Remix Revival 2017 is a panfandom remix exchange where you can offer and create fanart.

I assume it'll be mostly fic writers, but you can specify only wanting to remix art.

Signups are open until July 30.

This has been a fantastic experience, thank you all for your enthusiasm, patience, and glorious art. All the artists are cool with being remixed and tumblr and dreamwidth submissions are open, so if you feel inspired to create more remixes, go do it! Then post them (or links to them) here! This especially applies to anyone who wants to do a remix but didn't get to sign up for the exchange.

I’m still deciding if I want to run it again next year, I’m also open to someone else taking over. But is there anything you’d want different? Specifically: how do people feel about explicitely encouraging remixes of original art? Would you rather it was centered somewhere else? (dreamwidth or Ao3?)

And if anyone else is considering running a little exchange themselves I say DO IT. I’d never run an exchange before and it was so rewarding seeing my idea come to life. Big thanks to the anons at the exchanges thread at failfandomanon for encouragement and ideas, especially any of you who signed up :)

I've decided to open the community up for people to post any fanart remixes they create between exchanges. Note that the tumblr is also open for submissions, so you may not see all the art unless you follow both or I remember to crosspost them (which I will try to do)

IF YOU ONLY GIVE A THUMBNAIL then remember to give a link to your full size art or noone will see it ;) You will have to host it yourself, this option is basically just for people who don't want their full size art on tumblr.

I will be posting a summary of all the art to the dreamwidth community. I was going to have people submit posts to the tumblr community but it was too annoying.

(nb I wrote my remixes up to make sure everything was in order and both my author's notes ended up being me trying not to wallow in "I AM NOT WORTHY" and apologising for not realising I'd misunderstood the original art until after the remix was done /o\ HOPE YOU ARE ALL GOING WELL and thanks to everyone who's checked in)

FELLOW REMIXERS START YOUR ART ENGINES. I just sent out all the assignments!!!

I hope you all find some really inspiring fanart and have fun creating your remixes. For me it was like “Nope, nope, maybe, oh god these are all great but I have no idea what to do with them, nope, nope, YESSS THAT ONE.”

If you get stuck or have any other issues (like your assignment email not showing up!) give me a bell, I am happy to brainstorm etc.

Submissions are due September 20!

You can remix any complete art by your assigned artist, aside from collaborative works and any remixed art they’ve made previously. Any fandom is ok, including crossovers.
The remix should be inspired by the chosen piece of art, exploring the same general subject in a different way. You have to keep the basic premise, canon(s), and pairing(s) the same, but do not necesarily have to depict any pairings or even any characters.

Also: Unfortunately the only way I could assign everyone an artist was to assign myself twice. I feel a bit bad about getting two pieces of art, but I will also be drawing two which hopefully balances things out.

Attention remixers! It's time to nominate up to FIVE ELIGIBLE FANDOMS.

There are two ways to nominate:

Leave an ask at the tumblr community

Your nomination should include:

The pseudonym you'll be using for the exchange (probably just your username unless you're commenting anonymously)
Between one and five eligible fandoms.

For a fandom to be eligible, you must have at least 5 pieces of fanart in the fandom, where each piece of fanart fits the rules: complete, representative and designed by you. No collaborations or crossovers.

Anonymous comments are enabled, and all comments are screened.

Nominating fandoms doesn't mean you have to participate in the exchange, but please only do it if you're at least thinking about joining in.

Nominations close August 5th. At that point I'll make a final list with all the fandoms that got at least 2 nominations. I'll probably post a preliminary list before that to let people know which fandoms only have one nomination.

EDIT: Well, that didn't queue the way it was supposed to! I guess nominations are open a day early, oops.
